Coach
Note from Cassie: The impossible just takes a little bit longer. Growing up, I dabbled in a lot of different sports, but never found my niche. After my second child was born, I found endurance sports, and developed a love for triathlons. In 2013, my husband and I relocated to Beavercreek and I struggled to find the same type of community my tri ladies had provided at our former home. Shortly after, I got pregnant with baby number four and put my fitness on the backburner. The recovery from the birth of my fourth was difficult. I had serious sciatic pain and could barely roll myself out of bed. In March of 2014, I was invited to try CrossFit and I was instantly hooked by the community that Bombers espoused, but there was a problem- I couldn’t do any of the things. My sciatic pain was so intense I could barely do a quarter squat, I couldn’t hang from a pull up bar, and I was terrified to be upside down. Slowly, with incredible coaching and lots of hard work, I made progress, but I still doubted myself. I said things like “handstand push ups are awesome, but I’ll never be able to do that” or “rope climbs are not for me.” But I’ve learned that the impossible just takes a little bit longer. I now thoroughly enjoy overcoming my fears and pushing myself beyond what I ever thought I was capable.
